Course Description
Compromised parenting is a term used to describe situations when parents/carers care for their child is limited or ‘compromised’ due to : Domestic Abuse, Parental substance misuse and/or parental mental health or parental learning disability.
This session is delivered in partnership with Spectrum, Turning Point, CGL (Change Grow Live) and YOT. The course aims to provide delegates with an understanding of the factors .
Target Audience
This event is suitable for practitioners and managers who are working with children, young people and their families. All participants must have a basic safeguarding training.

* Develop an understanding of how the co-existence of the key issues can significantly compromise parents ability to protect children.
* Increase knowledge of how compromised parenting can increase the risk of harm to children.
* Understand that everyone has a role and responsibility to identity and respond to signs of compromised parenting.
* Reflect where compromised parenting needs to be considered along side continuum of need .
* Recognise how Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE’S) negatively affect young people.
